Why roam so far afield, when the good things are so close. This proverb could come from Madeira. The warm ridges of the Gulf Stream (all-year water temperature of 18 -24 C) and thr protected biospehre provide a variety which can almost be compared to the tropical waters. Garden eels as far as the eye can see, parrot-, trumpet-, trigger fishes and black corals provide a real exotic atmosphere. But also large fishes such as giant groupers, mackerels, barracudas, rays and with a little bit of luck – also mantarays or a monk-crawl can be observed directly at the domestic reef.

Domestic reef divinig – there is nothing better!

Short distances an transport times are ideal for the divers. The center is located centrally in the domestic reef rich of fishes – just jump into the water, surroundded by Madeiras underwater nature reserve. Four different diving locations can be reached via entries without any problem, for example a cave tunnel with air bubble, a steep face or the "Arena" with it ´s large fish swarms. Here, the varied diving locations reach to a diving depth of 34m.

The Manta Diving Center and the German Diving Federation will be organising Germany’s main championship for underwater photographers and video artists, Kamera Louis Boutan, it will take place from the 10th of June to the 17 th of June 2010.. No other competition in German diving has shown this much continuity and tradition.

The event will be selecting the best underwater photos and videos in a variety of categories; we invite participants from all over the world to take part at this foto- and videosub. A copy of the call for participation is available for download on the Verband Deutscher Sporttaucher (German Diving Association) homepage. The German Diving Association is member of CMAS.

"Ten Image Competition"

In this category, only UW photographs taken into natural waters are allowed. All images are evaluated as a set: The following types of image must be included: 1 close-up image of fauna and flora in the UW world (small world made big); 1 image including a model (a person under water, not in a swimming pool); 1 scenic shot of the UW world without any dominant living being; 1 image of the animal world under water; 6 images free style. In this category, only one set of ten images is admitted. Images should be submitted as .jpg files, with sRGB colour space. It is from this category that the German Master in UW Photography 2010 will be selected.

"Video"

There is a set theme for this category: Madeira´s underwater nature reserve Garajau The maximum permitted film length is 5 minutes, of which at least 60% of the footage must have been taken under water. No films may be submitted that were made under commercial conditions. Entries must contain no advertising and must not have any dehumanising or pornographic content. One film may be submitted, in the form of a DVD. The DVD must be capable of running on a standard DVD player. Please also include a version in WMV format for presentation purposes. It is from this category that the German Master in UW Videography 2010 will be selected.

Entries will be judged in advance by an independent jury. The date will be announced and the event will be open to the public.

The award ceremony will take place on the occasion of the Kamera Louis Boutan from the 10th of June to the 17th of June 2010 at Manta Diving Center and Galo Resort Hotels in Canico de Baixo, Madeira, Portual.

The entry fee is 49 euros. Any entries submitted for which no payment has been received will not be admitted to the competition.

The closing date for entries is April 02, 2010.

By signing the form, the entrant unreservedly accepts the competition terms as published. The Competition is open for all photo/videographers of the world.
